Bantams Split a Doubleheader Against #2 Nationally Ranked Walters State
Huge win for USC Union Bantam baseball at home!

The University of South Carolina Bantams baseball team split their doubleheader at home against Walters State on April 13th. This was a huge win for the Union Bantams as Walters State (WS) was coming in ranked nationally at number two in the NJCAA DI poll and on a 31 game winning streak. Bantams built a four-run lead in the third inning and then held off WS's charge for a 9-8 victory on Tuesday.
WS tallied four runs in the failed comeback with Silas Butler, Noah Gent, and Caleb McNeely all picking up RBIs in the rally. There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Bantams collected ten hits and WS had 14. Things got moving in the second inning with Andrew Ott's sac fly scoring one run for WS.
Bantams pulled away for good with eight runs in the third inning. In the third, Bantam's Antonio Gleaton was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Chandler Moeller doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Dailey tempted Bryce Medlock to hit into a fielder's choice and scored one run. Joah Nelson then singled on the first pitch at bat, scoring one run. Ethan Frasca had a three-run homer that capped an eight-run inning. Frasca was also named Player of the Day due to his three run homer.
Micheal Gulla was the winning pitcher for Bantams. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing three hits and two runs. Trent Northrup and Wesley Livingston entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. WS's pitcher, Dailey, took the loss for WS. Dailey went three innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one.
The Bantam's right hand pitcher, Jacob Davis, went three innings, allowing four runs on six hits. WS's Jake Knapp allowed five hits and six runs over two innings, striking out three. Bantams launched one home run on the day with Frasca going yard in the third inning.
Bantams tallied ten hits on the day. Medlock, Davis, and Moeller each had multiple hits for Bantams. Medlock went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Bantams in hits.
Walters State collected 14 hits. Nick Block, McNeely, Alberto Osuna, and Gent each managed multiple hits for Walter State.
