Bantam baseball team took victory over the four-game weekend over USC Salkehatchie on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2.
In game one, both teams were strong on the mound Saturday, but the Bantams defeated USC Salk 2-1. The Bantams pitchers allowed just two hits to USC Salk.
USC Salk fired up the offense in the first inning. Luis Quinones drove in one when Quinones singled.
The Bantams pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Blake Exizian singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Eric Yelton was on the hill for The Bantams. The ace went six innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out five.
Andrew Thomas started the game for USC Salk. Thomas lasted six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while walking one.
Exizian went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Bantams in hits. The Bantams was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Trent Turner made the most plays with six.
USC Salk didn't commit a single error in the field. Gavin Creede had the most chances in the field with seven.
During game two on Saturday, the Bantams cruised to an easy victory over USC Salk 9-3 on Saturday. Bryson Daniel led things off on the mound for The Bantams. The bulldog went seven innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking one.

During game one on Sunday, the Bantams lost the lead late in an 11-8 defeat to USC Salk on Sunday. With one out in the top of the fifth an error scored three runs for USC Salk.
The Bantams lost despite out-hitting USC Salk ten to five. In the bottom of the third inning, The Bantams tied things up at one when Trent Turner doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
After USC Salk scored four runs in the top of the sixth, the Bantams answered with four of their own. USC Salk scored when Lane Boutwelldrew a walk, scoring one run, Jacob Gregory induced Tyler Levy to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Bradley Garland singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
The Bantams then answered when Blake Exizian's sac fly scored one run for the Bantams, Turner singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Burton Hahn singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, and Jarett Whitley lined out, driving in a run.
Caleb Shealy led things off on the hill for USC Salk. The hurler allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four.
Jaycee Clark toed the rubber for The Bantams. The bulldog surrendered three runs on two hits over four innings, striking out two. Gregory, Bryce Metts, Jackson Jefferson, and Grant Ward each entered the game as relief, throwing one inning, one inning, two-thirds of an inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.
The Bantams tallied ten hits on the day. Turner, Hahn, and Brayden Corn all managed multiple hits for The Bantams. Turner went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead The Bantams in hits.

During the second game on Sunday, the Bantams coasted to an easy victory over USC Salk 12-2. The Bantams opened up scoring in the first inning when Brayden Corn hit a solo homer. The Bantams tallied four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to groundouts by Trent Turner and Blake Exizian and a home run by Jarett Whitley. Jared Penland led things off on the hill for The Bantams. The fireballer went six innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one.
Cole Montgomery led things off on the pitcher's mound for USC Salk. Montgomery lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out one. Evan Kraus and Solomon Stullenbarger entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and one inning respectively.
The Bantams smacked two home runs on the day. Corn went deep in the first inning. Whitley put one out in the fourth inning. The Bantams collected nine hits on the day with Whitley and Corn each racking up multiple hits and managed two hits to lead the Bantams.
