Game 1: USC Union beat Mott Community College 7-5 on Friday, Feb. 23.
Mott got on the board in the third inning after Chmielewski doubled, scoring two run, but
USC Union took the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third thanks to home runs by Brayden Corn, and Tyler Strickland. Mott CC tied the game at three in the top of the fourth, but the Bantams took the lead again in the bottom of the seventh inning after Mason Elrod hit a sacrifice fly, Cornhit a sacrifice fly, and Strickland singled, each scoring one run.
USC Union scored one run in the bottom of the eighth on a solo home run to left field by Kris Levensteins. Jordan Fricks earned the win for USC Union Bantams. The reliever surrendered two hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking two.
Blake Baldwin stepped on the mound first for the Bantams, allowing zero hits and one run over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking four. Mason Stepp and Alex Simmons each appeared in relief for USC Union.
USC Union piled up 11 hits in the game. Corn, Strickland, Blake Exizian, and Clayton Goff each collected two hits. Corn drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Bantams with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day.
Game 2: Jordan Fricks drove in four runs on one hit to lead USC Union past Mott Community College 10-0 on Saturday, Feb. 24. In the fifth inning, Fricks homered to left field, scoring three runs.
The Bantams jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Brett Boone drew a walk, scoring one run, and Fricks grounded out, scoring two runs.
USC Union added one run in the third after Mott CC committed an error.
Mason Elrod homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Bantams.
Austin Brown started on the mound for USC Union. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking three. Jared Penland pitched two innings of scoreless ball for the Bantams in relief, allowing two hits, striking out none and walking two.
Fricks, Brayden Corn, Vince Alvarez, Blake Exizian, and Elrod each collected one hit for USC Union. Boone paced the Bantams with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. USC Union stole three bases in the game. They were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Alvarez had the most chances in the field with six.
