During game one on Friday, there were plenty of runs as the Lady Bantams defeated Brunswick Community College 16-10. Lady Bantams got things started in the first inning. Hannah Truett doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs.
Lady Bantams notched six runs in the seventh inning and big bats in the inning were led by doubles by Madison Goossens and Matigan Nettles, a walk by Madison Truett, and a single by Bianca Campos.
Brunswick scored five runs in the seventh inning. The big inning for Brunswick came thanks to home runs by #20 and #18 and by #13.
Alexandra Bell was in the pitcher's circle for Lady Bantams. The righthander lasted three innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out four and walking one.
#18 started the game for Brunswick. The hurler went seven innings, allowing 16 runs on 15 hits and striking out five.
Brunswick launched three home runs on the day. #20 went for the long ball in the seventh inning. #18 had a dinger in the second and seventh innings.
Lady Bantams tallied 15 hits on the day. Nettles, Truett, Campos, and DeAnna Sweat each had multiple hits for Lady Bantams. Nettles went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Lady Bantams in hits.
Game two of Friday's game against Brunswick was a heartbreaker for Lady Bantams, as they lost the lead late in an 11-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with Brunswick batting in the bottom of the fourth when an error scored one run for Brunswick.
The Lady Bantams struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Brunswick, giving up 11 runs.
Brunswick got on the board in the first inning when #17 singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Brunswick took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Brianna Compton induced #16 to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, #20 doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, and #18 singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Lady Bantams tallied three runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Matigan Nettles and a double by DeAnna Sweat.
#8 was in the pitcher's circle for Brunswick. The fireballer went six innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out ten and walking one.
Compton toed the rubber for Lady Bantams. The pitcher went five and a third innings, allowing 11 runs on seven hits and striking out three. Jill Hughes threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen.
Nettles, Sweat, and Bianca Campos each managed one hit to lead Lady Bantams.
#20 led Brunswick with two hits in four at bats.
