Lady Bantams Surge Past Wake Tech Eagles Thanks To Big First Inning
USC Union scored four runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat the Wake Tech Community College Eagles 6-0 on Wednesday, Feb. 28. Peyton Morris grounded out, scoring one run, and Emily Kate Winstead singled, scoring three runs. The Bantams added one run in the third. Abby Benfield hit into a double play, making the score 5-0.
Brianna Compton led things off in the circle for USC Union. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking three.
Winstead and Morris each collected two hits for USC Union. Winstead, the number seven hitter for the Bantams, led the way with two runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day.

Lady Bantams Sweep Vermont State
USC Union easily dispatched Vermont State University on Wednesday, 9-3. The Bantams jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Madison Goossens singled, scoring one run, and Sophie Caley doubled, scoring two runs.
A double by Peyton Morris, and an error helped USC Union extend their early lead in the second.
Abby Benfield led things off in the circle for USC Union. The righty allowed five hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.
Leadoff hitter Gracie Starnes led USC Union with two hits in two at bats. Morris drove the middle of the lineup, leading USC Union with three runs batted in.
