Both teams were strong in the circle on Wednesday, March 13, but USC Union defeated Caldwell 3-0 in the first game. Brianna Compton started the game for the Bantams and recorded 21 outs.
USC Union got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning after Abby Benfield doubled, and Sophie Caley lined out, each scoring one run.
Compton earned the win for USC Union. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking four.
Madison Goossens and Benfield were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Lady Bantams. Benfield drove the middle of the lineup, leading USC Union with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-2 on the day.
