Bio

Kevin Birchfield was named Assistant Coach of the University of South Carolina Union on November 8th, 2022. Birchfield comes to the Lady Bantams following a successful tenure as coach at Marlboro Academy in Bennettsville, South Carolina. He helped lead the Lady Dragons to a 174-48 record over eight years, several preseason and regional titles, and three SCISA AA State Championships in 2013, 2017 and 2019.

A native of Laurinburg, N.C., Birchfield has coached at various levels including high school(varsity and JV), travel and showcase. Currently, he serves as the South Carolina State Director for Tier One Fastpitch. Birchfield is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches.

Birchfield resides in Laurinburg, NC with his wife, Wendy. Kevin has two children, Haven and Trace.
